Hannspree HW-173ABB Widescreen LCD Monitor Review

The hannspree HW 173BB monitor gives the newest technologies at reasonable price. It's not one of the most performant LCD monitor on the market but it's strong point's the low price of 100$. A generous display size of 43 cm and a resolution of 1240x1024 make it a great Monitor LCD 17.

The monitor supports 18-bit, this means that it can display in over 16 million colors for a perfect clear image. The maximum view angle is 160 and its pixels are no bigger than 0.255mm, giving a sharp precision in displaying videos or pictures.

Because of the fact that this monitor displays perfect quality pictures, the videos displayed look amazing, almost real like moving pictures. The response rate is narrowed down to 8 milliseconds response, improving a lot the quality of any video that plays on this screen.

The monitor can be plugged through DIV/VGA HD-15, and has a maximum resolution of 1440x900. Because of the very widescreen, this monitor is perfect as your own home cinema system, and creates an unforgettable high definition experience.

However, the monitor can only be connected to a computer, thus making it impossible for TV connections.

The product comes with a 3 years warranty and refundable money in case of damage to the monitor that has been caused by the manufacturer. This practically means that if you get to buy a broken Monitor LCD 17. The price for this device can be different from store to store, but only by a few dollars. At purchase you get to have all the cables and accessories included in your initial paid price. The warranty does not stand for the accessories that you receive, but most likely for the monitor that you bought.

The basic color for the monitor is all black, but since many people prefer this color when it comes to technology, the buyers are not complying about the lack of color.

Being very affordable and having a big time warranty, this monitor has a great advantage in front of all other more expensive products. Since you can watch HD movies for 100$, why should you watch the same movies on a 300$ monitor.

Firstly, this Samsung HDTV is a smooth operator. What do you mean by a smooth operator? It just means that all the things you watch on this television will seem so smooth that everything appears natural. The Samsung LN46C630 features a 120 Hz Clear Motion Rate technology which allows you to see very fast action with a smoothness which cannot be matched by its competitors.

What is so cool about this HDTV is its all share features. This technology enables you to sync up the entire household. This is big enough for most households but if you are looking to watch all action television like sports and movies then you may want to consider getting a bigger screen size. An important aspect of general electronic products is its energy conservation report. According to official statistics, this Samsung television exceeds the Energy star standards. Actually, it is 43% more efficient in saving energy when it is compared to the ENERGY 4.0 minimum standards. This is very impressive for a 46 inch HDTV as these kind of televisions tend to eat up a lot of electricity in order to maintain their vibrancy and color.

This television also features the Wide Color Enhancer pro. With this technology, you can watch television that delivers the whole color spectrum. This makes the images extremely rich in detail. So what did customers have to say about this television? One customer commented that the pictures were absolutely stunning and it only required a few more adjustments to make the quality even better.

Additional features for the Samsung LN46A650 LCD TV include a unique "Info Link" feature that allows the TV to grab weather forecasting, stock quotes, news updates, and sports scores from the internet when it is connected through the included Ethernet port to a home network. Another incredible feature is the "Wise Link" feature which allows direct play of music and image viewing when you plug in your Thumb Drive.

The Samsung LN46A650 LCD TV also includes a built-in tuner which for my particular location picked up clearly all local broadcasts without even a hitch. This TV also features a fantastic "signal strength" meter that helps much when positioning your antenna.

Samsung Flat LCD - A Review of the Samsung Flat LCD LNxxA850 Series

Gone are the days of big screen tv models that were so big they would take up a significant portion of the room where they were located creating an eyesore for the entire family. Today's flat screen LCDs are a fraction of the size and can be tastefully displayed in a family room, den or living room. The Samsung flat LCD A850 series is incredibly less then two inches thick. With the flat screen and stylish "Touch of Color" bezel, the Samsung is a piece of art in itself.

Samsung continues to produce better performing tvs, with more and more features at prices that are more and more affordable for the average consumer. Samsung flat LCD tvs are well known for their crystal clear clarity and vivid colors.

The A850 Series 8 Samsung flat LCD offers a full 1080p HD resolution at 120Hz. It has a contrast ratio of 50,000:1 making it capable of producing dark blacks and lighter light areas. It's 4ms response time, along with 120Hz display makes it a great choice for a smoothly displaying images with a lot of fast action such as sports and video games. As mentioned earlier though, the area that sets this tv apart from previous models is the super slim 1.9" thick depth of the tv.

The Series 8 models come with another distinction from previous models and that is the addition of the A860 model. The A860 is also a "Touch of Color" model, but instead of an amber color it comes in a subtle blue bezel color.

In addition, this Samsung flat LCD offers various other key features such as 4 HDMI ports, Info link for up to date feeds of sports, news and weather, and a USB port for connecting USB devices to the LCD for viewing photos, home movies or listening to mp3s. The Samsung flat LCD also is DLNA compatible for easy interaction with devices from many different manufacturers.

If you are in the market for a new HD tv, I would recommend that you consider a Samsung flat LCD and if a super slim case in addition to a great picture is important to you the LNxxA850 or A860 Series may be just the tv for you.

So kick back and enjoy the latest hit movie with your family or get ready for the big game with friends with a tv that will look great in your home.

32" LCD HDTV Review

The Good

Excellent picture quality; most past weaknesses have been corrected; able to be hung on the wall or ceiling

The Bad

Screen size may be too small for some rooms

The Bottom Line

A 32" LCD HDTV model is a good choice for rooms with limited space. The picture quality is amazing and the technology just keeps improving. You do want to measure the viewing space in your room to make sure you don't end up with a screen that is too small for your needs.

Review

If you're thinking about buying a 32" LCD HDTV model, you might be making a good choice for several reasons. Obviously, switching to an HDTV set is going to be a good idea given that the United States will soon be broadcasting all of its television channels in this format.

In other parts of the world, these changes have already been done. However, the need to upgrade your technology is only one good reason for making the purchase.

Another is the high quality of 32" LCD HDTV images and technology. For one, the televisions require a lot less power to run than do their counterparts, such as plasma screens. That means you'll be saving on your electric bill.

Plus, they produce less heat so you won't have to be concerned about ventilation issues as much. When you have a 32" LCD HDTV set, you can hang it on the wall just as you could a plasma set. The difference is that LCD screens weight a lot less and are not as fragile so you can be more confident about hanging them yourself.

Other good reasons to choose a 32" LCD HDTV model are that most of the weaknesses found in the earlier models have been corrected or improved in newer models. For example, one of the drawbacks used to be the lack of depth in the black color on the screens.

As a result, glare could be a problem and some of the color contrast was lost. Newer models of the 32" LCD HDTV have adjusted the depth of the black so this is no longer a problem.

Another common complaint of the original LCD technology was limited viewing angles. If you stood beside the television, you might not be able to see the picture. Again, this has been largely corrected in the newer models and today most of the models on the market allow for a larger viewing range.

One limitation in choosing a 32" LCD HDTV might be the size of the screen. Before choosing this size, you need to make sure it will work well for your room. To know, you have to measure the distance between your seating and your television.

If the distance is between four and eight feet, you should be able to enjoy a 32" LCD HDTV with no problem. If the distance is above eight feet, you'll want to choose a larger screen size.

LCD TV Reviews

Despite the many new brands available in 2005, the Sharp LCD TVs still remain favorites of critics and public alike. The Aquos line of Sharp TVs is especially applauded for its picture quality. The original Aquos is the Sharp-LC32GD4U, is a 32 inch TV, which is known to produce the best black rendering among all brands. It is available in other versions such as the 45 inch Sharp-LC45GD5U and the 37 inch Sharp-LC37GD4U. Sharp also produces economy versions of its TV in smaller sizes. They haven't got rave reviews, but are still better than other brands on the shelves. Sharp's widescreen version is closely followed by the Sony Vega KDL-32XBR950. The race between the two has been almost neck to neck.

Among smaller size TVs, Philips steps up. The 17 inch Philips TV, 17-PF8946 can be used as a TV as well as a monitor. It is highly economical, priced at just around $500, and has features like an inbuilt cable box and HD compatibility. It has a lower aspect ratio of 15:9, but that is not a deterrent as the overall picture quality is quite commendable. The other leaders in the race for small screen LCD TVs are the 15 inch Zenith version L15V36 and Sony's 17 inch MFM-HT75W.

Many new brands have emerged in the market this year. Chief among them are Kreisen, Syntax and the computer monitor giants ViewSonic and Gateway. Among these, Kreisen has received the worst reviews. The picture quality of their 30 inch version KR-320T has come under a lot of heat in almost all reviews and they have a poor rendering of black. Syntax stands better chances with its 30 inch Olevia LT30HV and 32 inch Olevia LT32HV. These TVs come under the category of economy TVs. They are priced lower so as to manage a foothold in the niche market.

ViewSonic has a smooth entry in the market. It has an above average picture quality, but the sound quality is no great shakes. Yet, it is quite modestly priced and provides good value for money. The 30 inch N3000W is priced at $1200. Gateway performs just like ViewSonic does, but a major stumbling block is the price factor. Gateway's 30 inch version is priced at $1600. Both ViewSonic and Gateway are below par when it comes to background detailing and rendering dark scenes, but these can be considered as teething problems. Both companies have potentials to improve their faults with future versions.

What's New? My Z4000 Sanyo LCD Projector Review!

When the PLV-Z4000 Sanyo LCD projector was introduced, it was clear that there were no major changes from the previous Z3000 model. The modifications that have been implemented are largely related to improved firmware, some optical engine tuning, and better quality control. Despite what has changed and what has not, the Z4000 projects a noticeably superior image on the screen than its predecessor. Surprisingly, this was achieved at a price point that averages below $2000, unheard of for most "ultra high contrast" projectors! The Z4000 includes a host of features, excellent black level performance, 3LCD technology, and a comfortingly long warranty.

You can surely think of the PLV-Z4000 projector as an evolution of the PLV-Z3000, so don't let the similar appearance fool you. It's what's under the hood that matters. Each individual upgrade may seem only marginal but you'll immediately notice the increased color accuracy. Regardless of how minor a few features change may sound, any appreciable modification in color tone is worth mentioning. Don't worry; none of the Z3000's good qualities were dropped!

Consider the PLV-Z4000 as one of the first of the "new breed" of Sanyo LCD projectors. The recent CEDIA show announced several competitors, and some make-overs, in the home theater projectors market but the Z400 stands out.

The Z4000 includes a dark grey case, essentially a box with rounded corners, with a clean and simply look. The connectors and inputs are basically standard while the projector has great flexibility of placement due to its lens shift and a 2:1 zoom lens. By the way, there has been a slight alteration to the color schematics. The front of the older model had a lighter gray than the rest of the projector. The new front, including the motorized lens door, is darker and nicely matches the rest of the box.

The fact that the PLV-Z4000 Sanyo LCD projector is a solid offer is without doubt. The real question mark in your mind should be "Is this the right projector for me and my needs?" Although the Z4000 may at first glance appear to be just a minor upgrade to the Z3000, don't forget that the Z3000 originally sold for a tad over $3000. I have already watched more than 30 hours on the Z4000 in my personal home theater without ever projecting greater than a 110″ diagonal image. The Creative Cinema mode is putting more lumens on my screen than the previous model I owned, which was due for a new bulb after 2000 hours of use.

One of the best attributes of the Z4000 became apparent to me while I was checking out some pre-season football. This model of Sanyo LCD projectors may not be intended for bigger screens, but when displayed on an average size or smaller one, the colors achieve superior balance and are more soothing to the eye than the vast majority competing projectors out there on their brightest days. Especially when you take into account Sanyo's "ultra high contrast" caliber black level performance, this model performs phenomenally on movies. Compared to the previous Z3000, I simply couldn't calibrate it to have comparable color quality to the PLV-Z4000.

The Dynamic mode of the PLV-Z4000 measures 873 lumens at its brightest with the zoom lens at its mid-point and just over 1000 lumens at wide angle. This may not be optimal for some 128″ screens, but if you dial the zoom down to around 100″ diagonal (which is probably the most common screen size in the home theater projector marketplace), the Z400 will perform with "flying colors". I like to think of it like this... To fill the entire 128″ screen, you would need almost 70% more lumens to perform comparably. Therefore, even the brightest projectors in brightest modes typically can't display any more vibrantly on a 128″ than the Z4000 can on a 100″. So consider this Sanyo LCD projector to be perfect for smaller and medium sized screens.

When it comes to watching your favorite flick, most folks will favor Creative Cinema mode, for the superior looking dark scenes. Some users will probably want to set the lamp to full and maintain brightness, possibly adjusting the iris upward from -20, to somewhere around -10 to even 0 for a greater number of lumens. If you're not some sort of projector "purist", test-drive some of the many dynamic controls. Each one has its pluses and minuses but you will get to learn what most enjoy while loving your Z4000 Sanyo LCD projector.

Sony BRAVIA KDL-52XBR9 52-inch LCD HDTV Review (1080p, 240 Hz)

Specifications: This is a full-HD LCD HDTV model that can display videos at a 1920 x 1080 resolution (1080p). The Sony BRAVIA KDL-52XBR9 has a 52-inch LCD TFT screen. Underneath the screen, there are 2 hidden speakers that produce a total of 20 watts in audio power. There are also some pretty cool audio features such as auto volume adjustment and voice zoom. This model comes with an array of standard connectors including 4 HDMI ports and 2 USB ports. Unlike many other LCD HDTVs, most of the connectors are located on the side of the device, giving them easier access when connecting to other devices.

Design: Overall, the Sony BRAVIA KDL-52XBR9 has a pretty good design. It has an black glossy frame that is skirted by a layer of transparent plastic. I personally think that televisions should have subtle designs so that the design would withstand the test of time and this model has just that. The frame around the screen is also pretty thin, making the screen appear much larger than it really is. It rests on a non-swivel, black and glossy stand.

Features & Performance: Like most high-end models, the Sony BRAVIA KDL-52XBR9 comes with a wide array of color and picture settings. When connected to the internet, the LCD can access online content such as streaming videos (YouTube and other services), Yahoo Widgets and other online multimedia.

The black levels on this model were very dark for a LCD TV. Thanks to the 240Hz refresher rate, fast-moving video sequences were smooth and flawless. The colors were generally very accurate and it also played standard-definition videos well. Due to the matte screen surface, it reflected very little light (if any at all) in bright lighting. It is also very energy efficient (it is EPA Energy Star compliant), using just an average of $51.17 in energy annually.

LG LE5500 LED LCD TV Review

With any LED LCD television it's important to remember that they are LCDs using LED backlights instead of the traditional fluorescent tube lighting. The panels remain the same and still employ the liquid crystal diode technology where the crystals are 'twisted' to regulate the amount of light through the screen.

In terms of appearance, the LE5500 is built in a rose wood colour, which personally I'm a fan of as they look great in traditional homes, but may not suit a modern or contemporary room. The unit is very sleek at only 1.2 inches in depth and weighs in at 63 pounds (just less than 30 kilogram's) without the stand. The heavy solid stand rotates up to 20 degrees from the centre and supports the TV firmly.

Being LED lit, the panel features a local dimming option, where bulbs can be dimmed or brightened in different areas independently to improve on black levels. Unsurprisingly then, the black levels were very good and potentially better than some plasmas on the market right now.

Light emitting diodes also use less power than fluorescent bulbs, which is great news for your electricity bill. LG makes the most of this low power consumption by including energy saving features such as the ability to turn off screen when listening to music and an intelligent sensor function that automatically adjusts the brightness and color of the picture as the light in the room changes.

Connectivity wise, the unit has four HDMI inputs, USB 2.0 access, two component inputs and a 15 pin D-sub computer input. It also features two 15 watt internal speakers, which did sound a little tinny and hollow but no more than other TVs in its class.

The panel features TruMotion 240Hz - a super fast refresh rate that works great for sports viewing. However, this will did require some judder reduction and motion blur adjustment to work well. While this isn't too hard a task, this could be a major drawback for the less A/V literature consumer.

Unfortunately there's no direct remote control button for turning the TruMotion feature on or off either, which can mean arduous series of menus as you switch between sports and normal viewing.

The color rendition was very impressive and images are realistic with deep colors from a wide color gamut. The viewing angle was also impressive with contrast degradation appearing around 45 degrees of centre, which was a good result.

The TV also features wireless connectivity with a range of video sites, including Netflix, and YouTube, and is Skype integrated, allowing you to make free internet calls without the use of a PC.

At around $1400 for a 42 inch, the LG LE5500 is priced in the mid-range and suitably so. It is an attractive TV with some great features such as LED edge lighting and a range of internet connectivity. While its picture quality, black levels and color ranges aren't cutting edge, they are very good for the average consumer and compete well with its closest competitors, the Samsung UN55C6500 LED TV or the Sharp LC-52LE820U.

ViewSonic VX2835WM Wide Screen LCD Monitor Review

One of the key pieces of equipment which everyone wants to have these days is a bigger and thinner monitor. No longer are people satisfied with the 19 inch monitors. The bigger monitors available are also more expensive, bulkier and have poor resolution. Well now we have the View Sonics VX 2835 monitor which offers size, quality and performs well- and is cheaper than most monitors its size on the market. At $700, it is a great deal. The View Sonic VX2835WM is a 28 in, flat panel computer monitor.

The VX 2835 is widely sold in most computer stores and offers the following stats:
o 28 inch display.
o Maximum brightness (cd/m2) 500
o Video inputs, Composite S-video, component
o HDCP-Yes
o Picture in picture-Yes
o Speakers- Yes
o Tilt- Yes

It is also important to mention that the monitor does not have a USB port or a TV tuner. The onscreen menu is nothing special but easy to use. All the connections are the back like the older monitors. Being slightly heavy it does not offer a swiveling base but does tilt up and down. It does weigh about 26.5 pounds. The VX 2836 WM model features a 1920x1200 native resolution. One thing about the View Sonics 2835 is that it was made to be of practical use with little or no room for junk. While it is not as elegant or as expensive as other brand models, it does give a great image. It was chiefly built for those want a big display in a thin form factor. The 3 ms response time of the screen makes it great for fast-flowing games and for watching movies. Anyone spending less than $700 on a 28 inch monitor certainly should not expect it to be the best, but the Sonics View does not disappoint. When hooked up with game consoles, the View Sonics did accomplish the mission.

The few negatives about the monitor include no USB ports or side inputs. In general, this monitor has good features for the money. The VS 2835 is a step up from the smaller size screen. While it is not top of the line product, it definitely is worth buying. Individuals who are on limited budget and would like something cheap with a great screen will not go wrong with the VS 2835. The monitor does come with DVI to HDMI cables and is quite bright. The other bran names with same size and similar features cost anywhere from $1,200 and above. For those individuals who are undecided about the monitor, go to a store near you and get the professional to show you the image on the VS- you sure will not be disappointed.

LG 32LH3000 32" LCD TV Review

LG is known for manufacturing great electronics. The precise engineering of their products, coupled with chic design and spot on pricing have made this company a remarkable success. LG LCD TVs are laden with a hoard of features and the company's strategy has always been to market its products on the kind of value they provide.

When we first decided to review the LG 32LH3000 32" LCD TV, we were sceptical about the performance because LG has not been the best when it comes to entry level LCD TVs. LG is renowned for producing state of art high end LCD TVs, but if lags in the entry segment. This TV, however, was packed with a lot of surprises and has definitely won our vote.

The first thing that strikes when you look at this TV is the stunning picture quality. The video is blu-ray quality and the 1080p picture ensures that it stays that way! Supplied with three HDMI ports, the TV is well built and the overall design of the TV is appealing nonetheless. The buttons are situated at the back of the TV and the company has done its bit to ensure that the LG 32LH3000 32" TV comes out as a neatly finished product.

The speakers are designed by Mark Levinson- the famous acoustics expert, and are hidden. Though there is nothing great about them, but they are decent and their "invisibility" factor does add a punch to the TV. The TV is liberally supplied with almost all the external ports that one might require. From HDMI ports to PC connectivity port, a VGA port and a Common Interface slot to USB, SCART and RGB ports- the LG 32LH3000 32" LCD TV has just about everything a video buff could aspire for.

The USB port, however, does entail a drawback- it can only be used for service upgrades and not for plug and play devices. Apart from this single drawback, the TV is priced competitively and is all set to give the bigger players a run for their money- thanks to some great work by LG.
